Jacinda Ardern current Prime Minister of New Zealand. She is the leader of Labour Party since 2017.She describes herself as a social democrat and a progressive thinker.

She was born in Hamilton, Ardern grew up in Morrinsville and Murupara, where she attended a state school. After graduating from the University of Waikato in 2001, Ardern began her career working as a researcher in the office of Prime Minister Helen Clark. She later worked in London for Tony Blair’s UK Labour Party government, and was elected President of the International Union of Socialist Youth. 

Ardern was first elected as Member of Parliment in the 2008 general election, when Labour lost power after nine years. She was later elected to represent the Mount Albert electorate in a by-election in February 2017.Ardern was unanimously elected as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party on 1 March 2017, following the resignation of Annette King. At the time of her appointment as prime minister, she became the world’s youngest female head of government at age 37.

Under her leadership she has made the Labour-NZF Government focus on particularly on the New Zealand housing crisis, child poverty, and social inequality. In March 2019, she led the country through the aftermath of the Christchurch mosque shootings, rapidly introducing strict gun laws in response.

She has been praised by the whole world for her expertise handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in New Zealand. One June 8, 2020 she formally announced

“We are confident we have eliminated transmission of the virus in New Zealand for now, but elimination is not a point in time, it is a sustained effort,” she told a news conference.”

It has been 17 days since the last new case was reported in New Zealand., with 40,000 tested in that time. Her confident and clear cut statements always boosts the confidence of pubic on their government. She is being responsible in taking strict and adequate measures which are showing great results over in New Zealand. She is always pro active and taken a step ahead over any situation. The press , public and the world wide politicans are praising her which she deserves in every way. If you talk about the stats Around 1,500 people contracted coronavirus in New Zealand, with just 22 deaths.

She was one of fifteen women selected to appear on the cover of the September 2019 issue of British Vogue, by guest editor Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Forbes magazine has placed her in 38th position among the 100 most powerful women in the world in 2019.

She was included in the 2019 Time 100 list and shortlisted for Time’s 2019 Person of the Year.The magazine later incorrectly speculated that she might win the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize among a listed six candidates, for her handling of the Christchurch mosque shootings.

It felt so cute and natural when she did mention ” I did a little Dance ” when there were zero covid 19 cases in New Zealand.
